Trebuchets
Trebechets (also known as "Trebs") are the powerhouses of siege -- except
they aren't considered siege; Conscription (which will speed up the building of
non-siege units by 33% affects the build time of Trebs! Compared to Bombard
Cannons, Trebs have the advantage of range. Four Trebs can take out a Castle in
a minute or two; how many other units can say that?
The only two disadvantages to a Treb is the burden of Packing and Unpacking,
and the possibility of friendly fire.
The advantages are few, but flexible. It's possible to improvise with
Trebs, making them powerful to the creative mind. Treb screens are often useful
on the Rivers Map or in other bottlenecks, taking out castles and other
buildings, and even cutting down forest.
The strongest point of a Treb is its ability to take down forests and
buildings in almost no time at all. It also can be repaired by villagers.
The weakest point of a Treb is the inability to melee, forcing the Treb's
owner to escort it with smaller units (such as Champions or Knights).
